It was designed in a rather peculiar fashion, having two totally enclosed bellmouth overflows ("The Plug Hole"). These are made of stone and are 80 foot in diameter with outlets that are 15 foot in diameter. Each discharges through its own valve house at the base of the dam. Water from the reservoir serves Derbyshire, England. Ladybower has a capacity of 6,310 million gallons of water
