What is Figgy Pudding?
If you've ever glanced at the lyrics to the popular carol, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," you may have noticed that carolers are insistent about getting figgy pudding: "We won't go until we get some / We won't go until we get some / Now bring it right here." So, what exactly are these jolly folks threatening to loiter on your doorstep over? Figgy pudding is a British dessert, also famous for being served by Mary Cratchit in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." It is often compared to a cross between carrot cake and custard and contains eggs, cream, sugar, spices and chopped figs, among other ingredients. Recipes vary, but the dessert has a unique texture and taste, one which was apparently worth waiting around for in the Victorian age.

Of course there are also the lights along Oxford Street, Regent Street etc.
This is the 2010/2011 version.
