caught at his own game !

Watch out for this when you put stuff up for sale on the web... :~))
We put an old laptop on our local eBay type site for 70 euros. There was an almost immediate response from a chap who would come and collect it that same evening for the asking price. So far so good.

But then we noticed an advert for the exact same laptop, albeit with a different photo, on the same website, but for 130 euros. It was posted a few minutes after our ad.

The buyer was supposed to come that evening to pick up the laptop - he never arrived..............

Then we had the idea to catch him at his own game, and replied from a different mail address asking to buy the laptop form him for 100 euros. He replied that he'd sell it for 120. We split the difference and we'd fetch it that evening..............

In the meantime the 'buyer' arrived at our house and tried another trick! He asked is we had change for a 100 euro note. We didn't, but he managed to scrap 68 euros together, so he got a 2 euro discount !!

But the very best bit was sending him an e-mail saying that we had bought a much cheaper laptop from a colleague :~))

Maybe he'd read one or both of these two books?
