$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

While having a discussion with a friend yesterday the topic of wealth came up and we were trying to work out what all the different definitions mean and their order in $$$$'s

The Merriam dictionary has the following definitions:

RICH - having abundant possessions and especially material wealth (first known use: before 12th century)

WEALTHY - an abundance of valuable material possessions or resources (first known use: 15th century)

AFFLUENT - flowing in abundance / having a generously sufficient and typically increasing supply of material possessions  (first known use: 15th century)

WELL OFF - well provided : having no lack
(first known use: 1722 !)

So now I'm even more confused than before :~)
