Dutch Shell are having a stunt with coupons for every 25 liters of fuel...

With these coupons you can get a price reduction for Philips goods and Christmas tree's.

So we have accumulated 3 coupons for 30% of a Christmas tree.

Of we go to the local DIY shed where we normally buy our tree. We choose a nice one and take it to the check-out. Only to be told that one has FIRST to login to the Shell website and activate the coupons....

The very nice lady on the cash desk was very apologetic and seemed to have had quite a lot of customers with the same problem. I think she was just glad that we didn't rant and rave at her :~)

But we were pissed off ! So took the tree back to the pile and went of elsewhere to buy a tree. Which turned out to be a good thing as they were a LOT cheaper there :~)

These kind of promotions are often a catch. The small print is usually very small and often the vouchers or whatever get thrown away and people end up just paying the whole price for something they thought was going to be a bargain.

Also what about people without internet ? In this instance they couldn't even cash the damn things in at all !
