Heidi a cross eyed possum was abandoned outside an animal shelter in North Carolina in the US. The zoo believes Heidi’s eye problem may have to do with her diet before she was abandoned, or because she is overweight, leading to fat deposits behind her eyes.
She has been adopted by the Zoo in Leipzig and has become an Internet star with thousands of Facebook fans in several languages.
She was housed in the $90 million, 1.6-hectare Gondwanaland attraction at the zoo

Unfortunately she didn't survive very long to enjoy her new home as she was euthanized by the Zoo veterinary staff on 28 September 2011 after several weeks of struggle against an unspecified health condition.
