Reorganising

Several people I know are having conflicts at work due to the style of management used during reorganising the workplace. It can be at the local Police, the Zoo, a rehabilitation clinic and many more. All these employers seem to use variations on a type of management style:


Mushroom Management
Keep employees in the dark
Throw shit at them once a week
When grown to full size, fire them

Seagull Management



The outcome is that staff feel insecure, stressed and have no idea what's going on.

A quick search on the web reveals zillions of companies offering management training .....


BUT the only thing really needed is backbone and honesty. Things that the vast majority of managers lack. They hide behind external 3rd party schemes or just dither about getting on with bad news delivery.



It's ALWAYS better to come out right at the start and say there will be cuts made, wither in pay or loss of jobs. And then to GET ON WITH IT instead of keeping everyone in suspense for months on end.
