Why is it that the majority of travel guide books always have massive lists of all the old churches and cathedrals one should 'not miss' when visiting a city ?
I personally don't mind popping into a nice cool church on a hot day to cool of a bit, but as a non-believer I wish there were more guide books WITHOUT all the religious buildings.
OK, maybe a few are interesting, like the Church of Bones in Prague, or Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-on-Avon where Shakespeare is buried.
Are there really that many people who visit all these places of worship?
And if you do happen to want to go into a cathedral you are expected to pay to get in ! What about believers who want to go there to pray - The Cathedral in Canterbury costs £9.50 per person, whereas Winchester is a snip at only £7.50 !!
