The iconic British telephone box was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. The first one was produced in concrete in 1920 and was designated K1 (Kiosk No.1). Very few high-quality examples of the K1 remain. One example is located in Trinity market in Kingston-upon-Hull where it is still in use today. New models were made of wood and uses in covered spaces before cast iron came into general use.
