After reading an article about Internally Displaced People I came across Internally Displaced organs. This occurred a lot back in the days of the wasp waisted corset. All the internal organs would be squashed into a much smaller space.
The pressure would be something like 1,5 pounds per square inch :~(((
From squashed ribs and hearts to displaced spleens, X-Rays of Victorian women wearing waist-clinching corsets show the discomfort they endured in the name of 'beauty'.
No wonder ladies fainted away if they exerted themselves too much!
Corsets also deformed the hip and pelvic bones, making childbirth difficult or even impossible. This explains a lot mother deaths in the 1800's.
The mad thing is that these types of corset are still popular today !
Organs can be displaced by a medical cause called Situs inversus where the hearts on the right and the liver on the left of the body.
