too much of a faddle

I used the expression "too much of a faddle" today, meaning it too be to much effort to do a certain thing. But when looking it up I discover that it means something else entirely !

faddle : To trifle; to toy(UK, dialect) To fondle; to dandle.
dandle : To move up and down on one’s knee or
in one’s arms, in affectionate play.

fiddle-faddle
Nonsense -    To fritter away one's time; dally (reduplication of fiddle)
First known use 1577

Fiddle and Faddle can also refer to the Secret Service code-names for two White House secretaries employed by John F. Kennedy

Fiddle Faddle is a kind of popcorn in the US.
It consists of popped popcorn covered with either caramel or butter toffee and mixed with peanuts.
