tasty tubes !

It seems that in the East of Holland and parts of Germany they have lots of problems with stone marters nibbling away at rubber tubing. under the car bonnet. It seems that the manufacturers of the tubes use fish oil in the produstion, and the marters love it !

Several german car brands have been looking at solutions... Mercedes make sthe whole undercarraige totally closed in and it's a seperate option with BMW and Audie ! Ford however use a different type of tubing that has no fish oil in it.

There are several solutions to stop them getting into the engine compartment... poisen, traps or as this guy suggests :  "Some people solve the problem by placing a wooden frame covered in stretched chicken wire under the motor compartment of the car when its parked. Apparently the beast don’t like to walk on the chicken wire and so don’t climb into the engine compartment"

A clever manufacturer has invented a device to keep 'em away....They are kinda cute though :~))
